Musculoskeletal (MSK) Assessment.
An MSK examination is an in-depth assessment of your lower limb muscle action, joint position, lower limb alignment and walking. This is performed in order to identify various foot problems that can result in injuries, pain and disfunction. This examination may also be referred to as gait analysis or biomechanical assessment.
In order to gain a detailed understanding of the problem the podiatrists at Feet & Motion Clinic will take a detailed medical and lifestyle history and then carry out a number of assessments on the foot in both the standing and seated position. This is followed by watching the patient walk along with an examination of current foot wear.
After gathering all of this information your podiatrist will recommend a treatment plan…..
Our initial aim is to reduce the pain so that you can continue your activities. Without proper treatment, the injury may get worse. In order to achieve a speedy recovery, we use a multi-dimensional approach. We are pleased to be able to offer laser treatments to reduce pain and inflammation in musculoskeletal disorders, injuries and joint pain. This may be used in conjunction with orthotic therapy that aims to alter the way your foot contacts the ground providing more support for the joints. We can supply affordable off the shelf orthotics or bespoke devises that offer a custom fit. To provide immediate support for the injury the foot maybe strapped. We will then advise on stretching and strengthening to improve stability and flexibility. We may also recommend footwear modification.
