Nail surgery under local anaesthetic
You don’t need to live with pain
What is nail surgery?
Nail surgery is a minor surgical procedure performed under local anaesthetic to remove all or part of the toenail. The nail can either be allowed to re-grow or it can be treated with a chemical to permanently prevent regrowth. We can remove with the entire nail or just a narrow section on one side, so once fully healed the nail still looks normal.
The most common reasons for nail surgery are:
In-growing nails; persistent in-growing nails often pierce the skin which causes pain, swelling, and can lead to infection.
Damaged nails; if the nail has become misshapen or thickened it can cause pressure and pain.
Fungal nails; chronic stubborn fungal infection can be treated by removing the nail and treating regrowth with antifungals.
Do in-grown nails always need nail surgery?
In-grown toenails can occur for several reasons and can usually be resolved with a conservative treatment. However, your podiatrist may recommend nail surgery if you have an in-grown nail that is not responding well to conservative treatment, if you have suffered repeated infections, or if you have excessively thick damaged nails.
What are the benefits of nail surgery treatment?
No more pain
No more need for antibiotics
Footwear more comfortable
Work, school, and sports activities no longer disrupted
How do I book nail surgery?

Patient reviews:
"I have suffered with my right big toenail for many years. The toenail grew into the sides of my big toe causing soreness, discomfort and pain. It was always a relief to get my big toenail cut back every 6 weeks as the soreness grew. It wasn't until I started with Feet & Motion and Natalie told me that she could put a stop to it growing into the sides of my toe permanently. No drama, no fuss, no pain. In all my many years of podiatrist treatment elsewhere I had never been told of this operation before. I am so pleased this has put an end to my big toe problem once and for all.” – Martin
